Whether you are new to bridge or at whatever level you play we offer a range of courses designed to suit you.  Please see below for details of the courses currently on offer. All of our courses are taught and designed by international player Andrew McIntosh.



1. Beginners Courses

Mondays at 1:00pm and 8:00pm for six weeks, starting 18th October 2010

Come and learn to play Bridge – the most popular indoor game – at the Acol Bridge Club. You will be made to feel most welcome and will thoroughly enjoy the start of your journey learning this exciting game. This new series of courses has been designed by the international player Andrew McIntosh.

2. Learn Bridge in a Weekend

Saturday/Sunday 6th/7th November 2010: 11:00am - 5:00pm

Possibly the best way to learn this most popular of all indoor games!

3. Next Step Course

Wednesday evenings at 8:00pm for six weeks starting 20th October 2010

Continue your bridge journey at the Acol. The ‘Next Step’ Course continues on from the ‘Beginners Course’ and has also been designed and will be taught by leading international player Andrew McIntosh. Hopefully, you will now be feeling more comfortable with this exciting game and be prepared to learn more.

4. Next Step Refresher in a Weekend

New for Autumn 2010! Saturday/Sunday 18th/19th September: 11:00am - 5:00pm

By popular demand, the Acol is pleased to announce that they are running a Next Step/Refresher Weekend. This will cover the same topics as the weekly Next Step course.

5. Improvers Course

 Tuesday evenings at 8:00pm for six weeks, starting 19th October 2010.

The Improvers' Course continues from where the Next Step left off, developing key areas of bidding, play and defence.

6. Intermediate Course

Next course scheduled for January 2011!

Now that you have gained experience and confidence, it is time for you to develop your game further in bidding and play. Topics incluide pre-empts, slam bidding, splinters and duplicate tactics.

 

7. Intermediate Plus Course

Thursdays at 11:00am for six weeks, starting 21st October 2010

Moving on from the Intermediate Course, the Intermediate Plus Course introduces some more sophisticated bidding techniques. Topics include Weak Twos, Jacoby 2NT, Unassuming Cuebids, Transfers, Roman Keycard Blackwood and Trial Bidding.

8. Advanced Course

 Tuesdays at 11:00am for six weeks, starting 19th October 2010

The final piece of the jigsaw! Aimed at those of you who want to take your game up a level to compete in county events. Topics covered include Duplicate Tactics, Fourth Suit Forcing, Unusual No Trump, Doubles and Michael's Cue Bid.

9. Declarer Play Course

Thursday evenings at 8.00pm for six weeks, starting 21st October 2010.

This course concentrates solely on declarer play, surely the most challenging area of the game. To draw or not to draw trumps? Finesse or drop? Ruff or discard? If you want to know the answers to these questions, then this course is for you.
