Bridge Lessons in London - Acol Bridge Club

Whether you are new to bridge or at whatever level you play we offer a range of courses designed to suit you.  Please see below for details of the courses currently on offer. All of our courses are taught and designed by international player Andrew McIntosh.

  • Learn to Play Bridge in a Weekend

    Possibly the best way to start to learn bridge! You will be made to feel very welcome at the world-famous Acol Bridge Club and will throughly enjoy the start of your journey learning how to play the world's most popular indoor game.

    12th-13th June 2010, 11.00am - 5pm.

  • Beginners Bridge

    Come and learn to play Bridge – the world's most popular indoor game! You will be made to feel very welcome and will thoroughly enjoy the start of your journey learning this exciting game.

    Tuesdays at 11.00 am and 8.00 pm for six weeks, starting 11th May 2010.

  • Next Step

    Continue your bridge journey at the Acol. The ‘Next Step’ Course continues on from the ‘Beginners Course’. Topics include responding to an opening bid of 1NT, how to bid strong hands, overcalls and doubles.

    Mondays at 1.00 pm and 8.00 pm for six weeks, starting 10th May 2010.

  • Improvers

    Bridging the gap between the Next Step and Intermediate, the Improver's Course aims to consolidate what you've already learned whilst introducing some more advanced topics such as preempts, slam bidding and choosing trumps.

    Thursdays at 8.00pm, starting 13th May 2010.

  • Intermediate

    Now that you have gained experience and confidence it is time for you to develop your game in bidding and play with our Intermediate Course. Topics include slam bidding, duplicate tactics and splinter bids.

    Thursdays at 11.00 am for six weeks, starting 13th May 2010.

  • Intermediate Plus

    Moving on from the Intermediate Course, the Intermediate Plus Course introduces some more sophisticated bidding techniques. Topics include Weak Twos, Jacoby, Transfers, Unassuming Cuebids, Roman Keycard Blackwood and Trial Bidding.

    Next course scheduled for Autumn 2010.

  • Advanced

    The final piece of the jigsaw! Aimed at those of you who want to take your game up a level to compete in county events. Topics covered include Duplicate Tactics, Fourth Suit Forcing, Unusual No Trump, Doubles and Michael's Cue Bid.

  • Declarer Play

    New course starting Summe 2010. This is Acol's first course to concentrate solely on declarer play, surely the most challenging area of the game. To draw or not to draw trumps? Should you go for the finesse or the drop? Ruff or discard? If you want to know the answers to these questions, then this course is for you.

    Wednesdays at 8.00pm for six weeks, starting 12th May 2010.
